One of the real crowd favorites at Armdrop was the Paranoia Willys coupe of Mark Austin. The Pocatello racer lost in the quarters of the 10-second class, 10.14 to a 10.19 against Larry Hale.

The husband and wife duo of Larry and Sharlene Lancaster paired up several times in qualifying with their two bright blue rides.

Shawn Miles recorded the fastest Street Machine pass of the 2009 Season (for the 100 mph club) at 175.47 mph during early time trials with his turbo ride.

Lynn Johnston was one of many Melba Outlaws team racers who competed at Armdrop Live. He lost in the second round of the 11-second class.

A good-sized crowd enjoyed seeing Rich Christensen in action (armdroppin’) for the first time in western Idaho.

Quite a number of brand new racers attended Armdrop Live from areas like the Magic Valley and the greater Winnemucca communities.

You can never start kids too young when it comes to practicing the wheels-up launch.

The in between round thrash (cooling down, refueling, etc.) was fun to observe as crews kept busy on getting the cars ready for another elimination heat.

John & Anna New, along with sons Connor and Colin, took in the main Armdrop Live event.

The dog in this pit scene is just adorable or hungry the best we can tell.

Firebird staff member Ron Nickels did a real fine job organizing a very busy upper pit area.

This Idaho license plate just seems to fit the pulse behind Armdrop Live…quite imaginative in our book.

Thanks again to everyone who supported this year’s Armdrop Live race. Every member of the Firebird staff truly busted their tails off over all three days of the event. We’re grateful for all their extra efforts. We’d also like to pass our appreciation along to Brian, Rich, Kent, Jeff and all the support crew who came to Idaho for the very first time. Their sense of professionalism and respect gave us a whole new level of appreciation for what they have created. They paid very high marks to our facility, our staff and all the racers who participated over Memorial weekend.
