Neibauer, Barr and Wilson Score Friday Classic XV Victories

Competing at his first Firebird event, 19 year old Jake Neibauer from Billings, Mont., won the $2,000 Super Roller cash prize with his very quick `63 Corvette. Neibauer hit a .040 reaction and ran a perfect 7.600 on a 7.60 dial at 170.81 to stop Lonnie Grace, Fallon, Nev., who finished at 8.75 (8.72 dial)-154.21.

The 128-car No Box/Hi Roller final came down to an all ladies affair. In a very close race, Jennifer Barr, Nampa, hit a .011 and ran 12.04 on a 12.02 at 110.28 to stop Lisa Thomas, Meridian, broke out by .009 of a second. Thomas hit a .054 and ran 10.61 (10.62 dial)-120.75.

Two Boise racers ended up in the No Box/Gambler showdown. Kent Wilson charged to a 9.20 (9.21 dial)-142.94 to topple the aspirations of Joe McDonald who fouled by .008.

Temperatures climbed comfortably into the mid 70’s on Friday and all of Thursday's top qualifiers maintained their lead in Top Gun qualifying. First round of the two 16-car Top Gun fields will run at 12:30 pm on Saturday.

Gates open Saturday at 8 am, followed by eliminations at 11:30 am. Adult admission is $15, kids 6-12 are $5, and toddlers 5 & under are free.
