Poulen And Stickland Lead Top Gun Qualifying

Thursday's eliminator winners included: Gordon Boven, Boise, who swept up $2,000 winners cash prize in Super Pro. In a battle of two former Pepsi Nightfire champions, Boven just clipped Ken Richins, Jackson, Wyo., with a 10.43 (10.42 dial)-126.77 against a 7.83 (7.82 dial)-168.85. The race was virtually decided at the starting line as Boven edged out Richins with a .016 to .032 advantage.

Ken Windley, Caldwell, charged to the Hi Roller $1,500 top prize over a stout 128-car no box field. Windley posted a perfect reaction time of .000 along with a 9.43 (9.47 dial)-142.76 to stop Spokane’s Bruce Nickerson. Nickerson redlit in the final with a -.007.

Driving his `07 Ram 1500 pickup, Ashton Davis, Middleton won the 128-car Gambler division with a 18.01 on a 17.94 dial at 76.60. He stopped Doris Twitty, Boise, who ran 15.88-82.96 with her ’64 Fairlane.

Dave Poulsen, Nibley, Utah, and Mike Strickland, Moses Lake, Wash., captured the provisional poles in Top Gun qualifying at the NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic XV. Poulsen recorded a 6.73 elapsed time at 202.56 miles per hour with his `07 Spitzer Dragster to lead open wheel qualifying. Strickland drove his `07 Mustang GT-500 to an outstanding 7.02-199.37. One qualifying runs remains, which will take place at 3 pm on Friday afternoon.

Gates open Friday at 8 am, followed by eliminations at 11:30 am. Adult admission is $12, kids 6-12 are $5, and toddlers 5 & under are free.
