Update: Tuesday of the NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic
Big Day of Parking Kicks Off Classic XV
The first day of parking saw hundreds of racers roll into the
facility from ten states and Canada for the NAPA Auto Parts
Halloween Classic. It was really wonderful to see so many smiling
faces, many of which had traveled significant distances to roll into
Firebird's season closing event. Early arrivers included the Low
family with two race cars all the way from Edmonton,
Alberta, Butch Warner from Phoenix, Arizona, David Beedy from
northern California, and a trio of fast race cars campaigned by the
Whiteley family out of Grand Junction, Colorado. Conditions are
absolutely postcard perfect, as temperatures climbed comfortably
into the 60's with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies prevailing
over the majority of the day. The forecast also looks very good, so
if you've not made your plans to attend Classic XV presented by
Peterson Toyota - then you'd better not miss the last blast of Drag
Racing at Firebird this season. Just think, after this weekend,
you'll have five months to rest up before the 2009 Racing Calendar
kicks back into gear. So drop all your previous honey do's - that
last lawn mowing can wait a few days, so can that tree trimming and
make your way out to Firebird for many days of fun and festivities.
Anniversaries only come around every five years - so there's another
reason not to miss this weekend.
Remember - this event is open to anyone that would like to come
race. You can run just the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) or you can
add in Friday, Thursday or Wednesday. There's no need to previously
qualify at any event to run the Classic. Better yet, it is the most
family friendly event on the entire event at Firebird.
We snapped a couple of early images to help get your imagination
working. Trust us, there will be many more after the race concludes
nightly, so check back and see what transpires. Do remember, those
of us who operate this website are either running the event or
running a car in the event - so be patient.
See you there!
