Update: Wednesday of the NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic


Club Grand Championship To Troy McDonald!

Racers were greeted by absolutely perfect weather at the first official day of the NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic XV. Partly cloudy conditions and temperatures in the low 60’s made racing fast `n furious throughout the morning and afternoon.

By nightfall, racing was hot `n heavy in the Quality Trailer Stakes as 146 racers battled for year-end bragging rights and a new tandem pull-along trailer. Troy McDonald with Stateline Racing swept up the overall title. McDonald ran 14.43 (14.45 dial)-96.17 to upend a redlighting by (-.013) Shayne Schaefer with the Hot Shots. Semi-finalists included both Tom Gerdau and Steve Pyburn.

Congratulations to all the individual club winners, too. They included: Shayne Schaefer, Hot Shots; Jennifer Barr, Naughty Girls; Troy McDonald, Stateline Racing; Larry Lancaster, Mopars Unlimited; Steve Holland, Modern Rodders, Rex Petersen, Valley Corvettes; John Katz, Hot Trucks & Cars; Paul Wallace, Valley Vettes; Ryan Resinkin, Bowtie Bandits; Steve Pyburn, Melba Outlaws; Marv Choudeck Jr., PSI Racing; Ashton Davis, Barely Street Legal; Josh Harris, Idaho Turbo Diesel; Tom Gerdau, Rolling Thunder; Dennis Jorgensen, Rock-It Racing; Dermont Olds, Loco-Motion.

A number of very quick ET's were established during the test day. Most notable in the open wheel fraternity was Shane Molinari with his supercharged Dragster at 7.27-185.95. Other top runners included Chris Jaggers at 7.41-183.15, Tom Bailey at 7.46-177.09, and Cody Hiatt at 7.36-183.22. The quickest door car pass belonged to the ultra-sleek ride of Washington’s Craig Olson at 7.47-184.04.

Thursday will offer the start of bonus races along with the first two qualifying shots for Top Gun Full Bodied and Open Wheel at (11:30 am and 3 pm).
