PETERSON’S STAMPEDE NORTHWEST MOPAR & GOLD CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS
Positively beautiful weather greeted
an outstanding field of racers and show participants at the 23rd edition
of the Peterson Stampede Northwest Mopar & Gold Cup Championships.
Traditionally held on the second week of June, the Mopar day featured
four racing categories and an assortment of judged show classes.
Congratulations to all the award winners.
New for 2011, the NHRA King of the Track runoff was staged in June
versus the month of September. Putting together an outstanding number of
elimination runs (eight in total), Shayne Schaefer successfully swept
the NHRA 60th Anniversary Wally trophy, along with a pair of NHRA
national event full event vouchers by upending Pro winner Bruce Compton.
Schaefer also collected the overall title in the Sportsman class.
Driving a Mustang that he first raced in high school, Schaefer put
together quite an array of runs throughout the day. His best reaction
was a .003 coupled with runs of 13.18, 13.07, 13.01, 13.06, 13.12,
13.10, 13.04, and 13.01 this with a car that is 100% street legal. Two
runs were dead on his dial and another two were .01-over his target e.t.
A tip of the hat is also extended to both Chris Jaggers (Super Pro
winner) and J.R. Cox (Sled/Bike champ) in reaching the final four runoff
in King of the Track competition.
In the show `n shine, Best of Show-Mopar was awarded to Ron and Barb
Larson with their impeccable `71 Dodge Demon. Other special Mopar award
winners included: Judy Radford (Quickest-Slicks), Tim Shaw
(Quickest-Street Tires), Dave Tweedy, Doug Wikfors, Sam Bolinder, Dennis
Cole, Gary Fassett, Stephen Jones, Steve Whitaker, Dave & Linda
Harrison, Joseph Karnes, Jeff Feaster, and Rocky Fullerton.
We’d like to say thanks to Gary Himes and the staff photographers
for giving us an opportunity to showcase some of the cars attending this
year’s event. We hand picked a few that grabbed our attention – hope you
enjoy the assortment we selected from this year’s Mopar show `n go (and
full Boise Muffler Gold Cup point’s event). |
