SFI DRAG RACE INCIDENT RESPONSE TRAINING SEMINAR
Operating one of the sport's top-rated Safety
Teams, Firebird Raceway was proud to host a SFI Incident Response Seminar
for several of the tracks safety personnel, key officials, management and
staff.
NHRA member tracks like Firebird have long prided itself in retaining the best in safety equipment for rescue, safety and fire needs at all events each season. At the same-time, the raceway has gone to extra lengths to further enhance its safety operation better known as the Firebird Safety Team ranging from equipment to training and many aspects in between. As part of the tracks on-going safety training, a variety of Firebird staff members attended a full day NHRA SFI Incident Response Training Program conducted on the raceway grounds.
NHRA Safety Safari member/SFI instructor Jeff
Midgley from Utah taught the course. Firebird Director of Safety Operations
Brad Stewart further assisted in the training program.
The orientation included classroom instruction followed by a number of hands-on exercises in the field. Special thanks go out to Chris Jaggers with Classics by Jaggers who brought out three demonstration race cars, racers Rick & Sam Northup at All American Towing in Boise for donating a car for extrication and fire training (along with Dann Luckow who supplied an addt'l vehicle), and General Fire for providing demo fire bottles for the class. As anyone can tell, safety at Firebird is more than a commitment, its something everyone takes a great deal of pride and respect in providing to everyone who attends and races at events held at the raceway each season.
