As most would agree, we took one of the toughest Firebird teams to date to the Summit E.T. Finals in Kent, Wash. The 58 racers gave it their best effort, finishing fourth in the final point’s standings behind Woodburn, Portland and Bremerton.

We want to tip our hat to Mark Kidd, Duston Wurtz and Zak Pedraza, each of which came within one round win of scoring the Race of Champions “race within a race” (late in the day on Sunday and into Monday morning) shootout. They along with every member of the team gave it 100% in their attempt to “DominEIGHT” this year’s Team Finals at Pacific Raceways. Yes, there certainly was some attrition (breakage) considering the near mine-shaft conditions presented over Labor Day weekend, but all-in-all – most everyone had an enjoyable experience from Thursday testing until all the racing came to a conclusion first thing Monday morning.

If you haven’t seen the round-by-round results just yet, swing over to the Summit site - to see all the detailed stats and numbers.

An outstanding field of 559 racers raced and attended this year’s rotating Bracket Team Finals from fifteen NHRA member tracks.

On behalf of everyone who participated or attended the Finals on behalf of the Firebird team, thanks from the entire New Crew and our Staff.

Thanks to Dennis Law for capturing a number of the photos below, along with a roving camera that took quite a cross-section of candid shots throughout the weekend (many of which feature people behind the scenes). Wish we could’ve put up even more shots, but we had to leave some time to cheer on all our team members. Hope you enjoy what we have to share.
