CUTLER, MCDONALD, HIGGINS & JENSEN SWEEP SECOND DAY OF DOUBLE HEADER

Beautiful weather helped wrap up the second of two days of racing at Super Ford Sunday & Gold Cup races presented by Dan Wiebold Ford. Racing took place under partly cloudy skies as temperatures climbed into the upper 80’s.

In an impressive Super Pro final, the two Summit E.T. Finals champions (on Sat. & Sun. last August), both Ed Cutler and Derric Barr hammered it out at day’s end. In a race decided by .006 of a second, Cutler edged out Barr. Both cars had superb lights, .001 to .006, with Cutler running 9.677 on a 9.66 dial against an 8.388 (8.37 dial) to capture the maximum number of points awarded with his Ford-powered `72 Vega wagon.

In Pro, Jerry Hodges tried his best to double up (after winning on Saturday) with his `79 Mustang, but ended up runner-up. Joe McDonald stopped Hodges in the final with an 11.49 (11.47 dial) against a very game 10.19 (10.19 dial) by Hodges.

Congratulations also goes out to Glen Phillips who picked up the Early Mustang title with his 428-equipped `67 Mustang. Phillips ran 12.22 (12.24 dial) to defeat Les Migneault who ran .03-under at 11.90.
