FRIDAY: TROUDT, BUNDY & WEISS SCORE THURSDAY BONUS RACE TITLES

Three champions were crowned on Friday morning at the NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic XVI. The semi-finals of Super Roller, No Box Hi Roller and No Box Gambler  concluded in between the opening rounds of Friday’s mid-morning action.

Scoring the $2,000 to win Super Roller title, Larry Troudt drove his `74 Cuda to a terrific .015, 10.40 on a 10.39 dial to upend Washington-racer Craig Tharp. Tharp drove his`69 AMX to a losing .012, 10.73 (10.68 dial) to collect the $1,000 runner-up cash.

In No Box Hi Roller, Yakima’s Bob Bundy ripped off a .007, 11.42 (11.47 dial) to sweep the $1500 to win race over a redlighting Dan Krueger (-.017).

Utah’s Chris Weiss earned the No Box Gambler class, posting a 11.80 (11.72 dial) to get around Jeff Higgins who finished at 14.55 (14.45 dial).

Racing continues on Friday in three different bonus races (along with Top Gun qualifying in two separate 16-car field, which is posted below). Saturday will see the official start of the Classic fun `n games as the Fright Night returns to Firebird. If you had other plans, drop `em, `cause this year’s Classic is shaping up to be an absolute dandy.
