SUNDAY: JASON THOMAS SWEEPS CLASSIC GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE!
Jason Thomas from Meridian swept the Classic Grand
Championship at the NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic XVI at Firebird Raceway.
The 20 year old racer not only won the Super Pro title, but also scored the
four-way runoff crown, pocketing a cool $5,000 in cash. The former Pepsi
Nightfire winner waded through nine tough rounds without even a single bye run
to win the five-day event.
As the largest
participant drag racing event in the Pacific Northwest, the Classic attracted
585 racers from 8 western states and Canada. Other event champions included:
Paul Nicolosi, Nampa, Karl Martin, Riverton, Utah, Dustin Ward, Renton, Wash.,
Chandler Steen, Idaho Falls, and Kenneth Chintawan, Far West, Utah.

In addition, congratulations goes out to both Jamie DenBesten from Loveland,
Color., and Steve Stuart from Happy Valley, Ore., both of which floored a big
Saturday night crowd during the Air Firebird Wheelstanding Show.
We look forward to posting a variety of colorful images in the days and weeks
ahead, so check back in the near future for more coverage from the final event
of 2009.
