JAGGERS HELPS TEAM FIREBIRD WIN SIXTH SUMMIT E.T. FINALS CROWN!
Chris Jaggers helped Team Firebird score an amazing sixth
Track Team Championship at the Summit E.T. Finals staged at Woodburn Dragstrip
outside of Woodburn, Ore. A field of 585 racers participated in the four—no,
make that five-day NHRA marathon event.
Wet weather delayed Sunday’s finals until Monday afternoon when racing came to a
conclusion not long after 5 o’clock (Pacific time).
A total of 54 Firebird racers competed in the NHRA Division 6 team championship,
where they finished first overall with 70 points. Coined the "Six-Pack Attack" -
Team Firebird placed two competitors in the final round of one of the biggest
participant motorsport's event in the Pacific Northwest. The home track,
Woodburn Dragstrip finished second with 66, while Bremerton Raceway (WA) claimed
third out of 16 tracks with 61 in a two-way tie with Portland Int'l Raceway.
Jaggers posted a winning 7.90 elapsed time at 168.28 miles per hour to garner
the Super Pro title with his `99 Dragster. Opponent Shawn Herbst, Selah, Wash.,
earned second overall at 9.17-141.39. Team Firebird's Ken Windley, Caldwell,
earned runner-up in the Pro class, which further helped Firebird win for the
second consecutive year.
