CHEVY RULES BEST OF DETROIT EVENT

One year after Mopar ruled the roost at the Best of Detroit race presented by Kidd Performance and Les Schwab Tires it was Chevrolet who conquered all challengers this year. Breezy conditions with temperatures in the 70’s helped make it a very comfortable day of racing.

The popular September special event saw Jennifer Barr (Ford), Rose Shaw (Mopar), Bryan Brown (BOP) and Kevin Shumway (Chevy) sweep the individual categories. After eight rounds of racing, Kevin Shumway pulled off his biggest victory to-date (after racing for somewhere in the vicinity of three decades at Firebird), earning the overall Best of Detroit runoff title. The victory gives Chevy bragging rights for the next 365 days until the Best of Detroit returns in 2010.

Another Firebird track championship was collected at the event, too, and congratulations goes out to new track champion Don Trafford for narrowly winning his second straight Carl’s Cycle Sales Street Bike crown (over Gerard Stanberry).
