DOWNARD AND TAYLOR RECEIVE 22ND RACEMASTER AWARD

The 40th Anniversary Award's Banquet was hands down one of the best. Staged in the Ballroom of the Doubletree Riverside in Boise, the evening was filled with many heartfelt and emotional moments. A near capacity audience had an opportunity to hear from all the top finishers, in addition to a wide variety of special award recipients.

One of the real hits of the evening had to be the announcement that both Carl Downard and Lloyd Taylor would received the distinguished Racemaster award. Both were very appreciative of the honor and had an opportunity to speak at the podium as the final award recipients of the evening. Both racers were a part of the opening of Firebird in 1968 and continue to attend and support the raceway each season.

Chris Jaggers spoke very respectfully of his accomplishments in 2007 shortly after being recognized as Bracket Racer of the Year. He was presented this award following a vote on behalf of all his racing piers.

The night came to a close with a dramatic and energy filled music-driven video showcasing all the 2007 Track Champions. Our thanks goes out to Dawn Mazi-Hovsepian for all her efforts in creating this outstanding DVD, which everyone really enjoyed on the oversized jumbo screen at the Banquet.

This year's Banquet was staged in the Ballroom of the Doubletree Riverside in Boise.

The six Gold Cup championship winning cars were displayed at the Banquet, along with the historic `56 Chevy made famous by Lloyd Taylor and called Rowdy #3. This car first competed at Firebird in 1968 and is stil campaigned to this day by second generation racer Scott Downard.

Both Junior track champs - Krystal Busby and Andrew Clark displayed their cars near the entryway to the Ballroom.

The Melba Outlaw earned their 11th Silver Cup Club Championships. John Wood, Dale Miller and Bruce Compton accepted their award from John New (right).

Winning the Bronze Cup Club Championship, the Hot Shots racing team edged out FPS Racing for top honors this season. Eldon Twitty, Annette, Justin and Keving Shumway, along with Chris Townsend were in attendance at this year's Banquet.
