Circa 1969 or 70, this is Dewey-Griffin Olds 442
with (we're guessin') driver Pete Kost, as noted on the front fender in the F/SA
class. Both Pete (son Dino) and his brother Bill have been racing at Firebird
for well over 30 years. Check out the timing tower, which originated on four big
6" x 8" beams, looking more like an air traffic control tower,
complete with an 8' extension ladder to get up to the first floor. With the
Lucas Oil Drag Race Series knocking at the door, Firebird is very excited to be
hosting the 35th Anniversary of the oldest major event in the Pacific Northwest
on June 3-5. Looking back, Firebird hosted its first NHRA World Championship
Series race in 1969.
