And how can you not get a giggle out the Firebird bucket hat and "first" Night Fire 500 t-shirt from 1972 worn by New, while a younger Horsley sported a Property of Watergate Rugby Team t-shirt. Now those were the days. Noted on the back of the black `n white print, "Horsley defeated more Street competitors during a two event span than any previous driver in the class". For those who competed in the 70's, checks were dispersed in the bottom of the timing tower, followed by a winner's picture of the trophy and payment. Today, Horsely works as a service director for Edmark Chevrolet and competes at Firebird from time-to-time.
