During the early years of Firebird, Kenny "the Action Man" Goodell was one of the real favorites in both Funny Car and Top Fuel. This photograph was taken nearly 35 years ago of his very familar purple and orange flopper. There are many interesting things you can take from this image including everything from the photographers to the packed staging lanes (and early terraced grand stands), each getting ready for their turn at the quarter-mile. Making this year's Halloween Classic even more special will be the fact that Kenney will be competing for the first-time in over two decades at Firebird. He will drive the John Floyd Sr. "Pogo" Anglia throughout the course of the four-day weekend and field a Junior Dragster for his grand daughter, too. We can't wait to say, "welcome back" in mid-October.
