With the NHRA Division 6 Lucas Oil
Drag Race Series knocking at the door, it won't be long before the gates
swing open for the oldest drag racing event in the Pacific Northwest better
known as the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford. Spanning
thirty-six years, the event will be staged over the May 12th-14th weekend,
with racers attending the Firebird Granddaddy from 12 states and 3 Canadian
provinces. Seeking to defend his Wyoming Ethanol Top Comp title will be
second generation Jordan Valley, Oregon racer (and rancher) Todd Gluch.
Having raced at Firebird for many, many years - this is an early photo of
one of Todd's early dragsters somewhere around twenty, twenty-one years ago.
Today, Gluch runs a 7-second Dragster built by Soran Race Cars. As always,
it's fun to look back at the day's gone by. Firebird Photo Library
