During the 70's we did everything in our power to put Pro Stock racing on the map at Firebird Raceway. For nearly a decade many of the top Pro Stock teams competed at a variety of events including this wild match up between the home-town hero - Pete Sather's "Banzai" Vega Wagon against the famed "Dandy Dick" Landy with his mighty Mopar from southern California. Chewin' on his trademark cigar, Landy was always a favorite anytime he rolled into Firebird. Sather, who called Ontario (Ore.) home, tried his best to be stop the heavy hitters, but was always a couple tenths short of the top runners.
