Thirty years ago Dan Soran was the big winner of the Bracketmaster 6000 over Labor Day weekend at Firebird. He won the $2,000 top cash prize and was quickly knicknamed "Two Grand Dan" Soran, a name that has stuck with him all these years. Today, the talented race car builder finds himself the proud stepdad of a Junior Thunder youngster by the name of Ryan Flacker. Ryan raced at Classic XV, falling in the opening round of the Thunder class to Matt Burger after posting an 11.71 elapsed time. We're confident Thacker will rejoin the Thunder class in 2009 and take a shot at the entire season after getting a late start this year. Look closely at this picture and of course you'll see track general manager Bill New (at the age of 44) and the little 10 year old Brad New kneeling bottom right, plus a number of Danny's friends.
