The
unpredictable nature of a fat-fendered
Gasser quite makes you want to
push closer to the fence line
just before one of `em gets
ready to launch. Typical of this
early era nostalgia ride is the
"Paranoia" Willys coupe of
eastern Idaho's Mark Austin.
During the last Oldies Drags,
Austin's coupe was a handful. On
this particular launch it was
taking aim at Firebird's
Compulink Christmas tree.
Fortunately enough, Mark
masterfully navigated his unruly
ride away from the tree. After
reworking the set-up on the
chassis, Mark returned to the
Nightfire in August and
hands-down it was one of the
real fan favorites during the
weekend, especially when he sent
those front wheels skyward.
