Here's another oldie but goodie out of
Jeff Thatcher's 1969 photo archives. Larry Obendorf campaigned this
short wheelbase digger with sponsorship from Edmark Chevrolet. We
learned more about this dragster from Steve Matlock, a former staff
member for Roger Worley at Automotive West, during the Roadster Show. He
mentioned that Obendorf built 3 of these dragsters in the 60's. One is
currently in the stable of the Grondahl family, another hangs in the
garage of Blueprints Plus general manager Mike Mahan, and the
whereabouts of the third car is currently unknown. Steve is thinking
about building a twin to one of the cars in the near future, which would
be a pretty cool deal in our book. Look closely in the background of
this photo and you'll see the `55 Chevy convertible of Lloyd Taylor
parked about where today's E.T. Booth is located. Image by Jeff
