For those of you who didn't know
it, Matt Compton has developed a lot of racing history at Firebird
over the years. As the operator of Performance Solutions today, Matt
(standing, fourth from the left) first started racing at Firebird in
the High School Drag Racing Championships for Borah High. He is a
former High School track champion and raced under Lion's advisor,
the late Mr. Dave Emry (pictured lower left), helping them win a
third straight team championship with a low 13-second Chevelle (back
in `94 if our statistics are accurate). And as you can see from
this photo, Borah was a dominating force for many, many years,
winning ten year-end titles with quite a wide variety of students
racing for the Lion's racing club. Today, you'll find the Compton
family-three generations strong, including Grandpa Bruce, Mom-Liana,
Dad-Matt, and granddaughter Casey racing in the Junior Dragster
ranks.
