Both Harry and Jed Dubach have been to Firebird many times over the years. In more recent seasons, you'll typically find them a part of the crew of the two-car Top Fuel and Funny Car teams of Jack & Brett Harris. Competing for the first-time in several seasons at Firebird with their own car, they really showed just how fast their injected front-motored digger would run during Classic XVII. They posted a booming 7.31 at 180.61 mph to qualify tenth in the 16-car field. Meeting up with Dick VandeMeer, the eventual Open Wheel champ, they lost a nail biter, running a 7.323 (7.35 dial)-176.26 against a winning 7.553 (7.57 dial)-177.83 to end their hopes in Top Gun.
