One of the toughest Super Stock racers in the early years of Firebird (and all northwest race tracks for that matter) was Dave Wren. Within the Northwest Division, Wren was as feared as any racer on the circuit. This photo is from the Rick Hale archives and dates back to 1968. The Hemi Cuda competed in SS/BA and garnered a top speed (as noted on the bottom of the photo) of 129 miles per hour during Firebird’s opening season of NHRA Championship Racing.
