This picture is from 1972 and was taken in the pit area of Bill Doner's Seattle International Raceway in Kent, Wash. The event is the prelude to 64 Funny Cars (actually the inaugural 32 Funny Cars) and the predecessor to what is today's Nightfire at Firebird, an event that originally featured 16 AA and A/Funny Cars. This photograph, which was recently provided to the New Crew by former SIR track manager Jim Rockstad, features the famed Pisano & Matsubara Vega in all its glory some four decades ago. If you look closely you'll see the 11 year old Scott New, far right, and a 38 year old Bill New in the white pants and t-shirt.  Photo credit: Herman Marchetti
