The early years at Firebird definitely paints a whole different look to the raceway
and the racing. From the Rich Carlson photo archives this wide-angle shot features a pair of bracket
cars cranking down the quarter-mile as a prelude just prior to one of the biggest nights of the season
at Firebird. This photo dates back to 1975. The event was the Nightfire 500. The fourth annual Nightfire
eventually saw Mike Miller with his “Boredom Zero” AA/Funny Car and the alcohol flopper of Kazangian
& Lemon win titles.
