It had been several decades since we last bumped into one
of the original racers at Firebird Raceway. At the 40th Annual Boise
Roadster Show, we were able to visit with Phil Andre who was joined
by his grandson. Phil raced two cars (both a late-60’s Mopar
SS/HA hardtop and a station wagon) called “Starvation” in
the late-60’s and early-70’s at Firebird, one of the very active
and competitive racers who won a number of races before stepping
away from the sport to raise and train cutting horses (along with his two girls)
in Caldwell. It was good seeing Phil for the first time in over a quarter-century(!)
and getting a chance to catch up on old times.
