Charlie Allen was an early standout in what was a fledgling new AA/Funny Car class in the late-60’s and early-70’s. This is his `70 Challenger called “Challenger 1”. Allen went on to operate the late, great Orange County Raceway before moving over to Chandler, Ariz., to run the Firebird Int’l Raceway facility. Allen was a participant at Firebird in the early 70’s, running against the likes of Don Prudhomme, Tommy Ivo, Ed McCulloch, Kenney Goodell and other top flight teams.
