Veteran announcer and commentator Bob Frey made many trips to Firebird over the years. Here he is pictured with the track mascot: Big Red. In all likelihood, this might have been one of his earliest trips to Idaho, quite possibly in the mid-90’s when TNN was still doing coverage of select Lucas Oil Drag Race Series events. A fixture for many years on the NHRA national event trail, Frey recently announced that he would be retiring at the end of the 2012 Season. He appeared and announced several times at Firebird including two trips to the Halloween Classic over the course of the past decade.
