At Classic X, Utah’s Bill Matern waded his way through eliminations to win the overall Classic Grand Championship with his 9-second `68 Camaro. In the runoff, Matern ran 9.76 (9.73 dial)-135.19 to defeat the 2001 Classic champion Chris Jaggers who redlighted in final. Matern is one of three racers from the state of Utah to win Halloween titles (along with Brian Sanderson in 2008 and Chris Hall in 2011).
