The “Hawaiian” AA/Funny Car first appeared at Firebird way back in 1972. Thanks to Wayne Monahan, he provided an assortment of early photos for us to enjoy. This one in particular is from the Ignitor as LeRoy Chadderton, Roland Leong and company tow back up the original return road behind a Datsun tow vehicle. The “Hawaiian” would return in 1973 to win the 3rd Annual Ignitor Opener. Thanks to Wayne for sharing the early images.
