Here’s a shot from the early 80’s (by our recollection anyway) between two of the top running Alcohol/Funny Car northwest racers - “Gentleman Hank” Johnson and Bucky Austin. With chief starter (during this era) Rocky Church flipping the button, we believe this is either an early Ignitor event or perhaps the Nightfire where BB/Funny Cars were a staple of the race for better than two decades. Of particular note, Bucky first won the Ignitor in 1984 and piled up nearly another dozen titles through the years at our season opener (as both a driver and car owner). From the sign boards on the guardrail, it definitely stirs up some nostalgic memories, logos `n identities from: Westgate Records & Tapes, KF95, Q104, Nendels Motor Inns, Super Oval, and Automotive West, all of which are long lost entities today.
