Here's a vintage look at a pair of Giant eliminator racers, including the front-motored and oh so short in wheelbase digger of Jeff Shafer and the famed `56 Chevy gasser of Lloyd Taylor from Boise. Taylor knicknamed his shoebox The Rowdy #3 and competed in E/Gas trim. With chief starter Rocky Church flippin' the button, Shafer drove a car he called the "Gravedigger". On it's final trip down the quarter-mile, Shafer lost control of the dragster in the first 100' and smacked the guardrail, bending the nose of the car around. Shafer was ok, but the car was retired and today sits in the garage of Blueprints Plus print house co-owner Mike Mahan.
