Here's a shot from an early Pro Stock race featuring northwest racer Mardy Maltais against the Thunder Road Vega out of Division 7. What makes this photo quite unique is the fact it pre-dates the construction of Firebird's upper pit area. As you can see in the picture, the hillside parking was still in place, along with the original wood grandstands and Newtronics timing system. Look closely and might recognize a few of the Gold Cup racers in the staging lanes, too, at least those of you that go back at least twenty-five years.
