From the Johnnie Corn photo library comes this pit shot of the famed "King" - Jerry Ruth. This picture comes from the inaugural Ignitor Opener that featured a quartet of AA/Funny Cars, which included "the King", Charlie Allen, Don Prudhomme and Kenney Goodell. Later that year (or it might have been in `72), Ruth not only won the World Championship Series Funny Car title, but also scored the Top Fuel crown, too. No doubt about, Ruth was one of the most successful racers of the 70's at Firebird and beyond.
