IFor any of you
who have been around a while (maybe more like close to twenty years or longer),
you'll likely notice the old fortress we once called Pit Control. The luxury
single wide once belonged to Uncle Walter Dean, an old-time miner who came from
the copper mines in Bisbee, Arizona, to stay with his sister, Lucille
New-Jenkins (grandmother of Scott, John and Brad). When Uncle Walter passed
away, the track was willed this vintage trailer, which was painted (Winston) red
and in short order - became Pit Control. As you can see, it had the original
Idaho Independent Drag Racer's display case [still in use today], the comm line
phone, and the microphone for pit calls. If this isn't a classic piece of
Firebird history, I don't know what is. Photo by former track starter Dick
