During the 1980's and into the `90's Firebird
played host to many of the biggest Funny Car races in the Pacific Northwest.
Champions read like the who's who of the sport of Drag Racing in everything
from the nitro to alcohol ranks. Names like McCulloch, Prudhomme, Beadle,
Force, Pulde, McEwen and the list goes on and on. In what was once called the
BB/Funny Car class, here is a pair of top gun alcohol floppers battling it out
at the Nightfire. In the far lane, the late Jett "the Idaho Kid"
Field races against the Chuck Worsham-campaigned Camaro with driver Richard
Day. This is the same Chuck Worsham who along with his son Del that races
Funny Cars on today's NHRA Tour.
