Tom "the Mongoo$e" McEwen made many appearances at Firebird over the years including the 1974 Grand American Nationals with his English Leather - Fly Navy - Wynns AA/Funny Car. The "Goo$e" competed at many Firebird races in the 70's and early 80's running at the Ignitor and the Nightfire (plus one bitchin' mid-week match race in 75 with a guy they call "the Snake"), and scored one Nightfire 500 victory, as the race was originally called, some twenty-five years ago.
