Jerry Ruth won a number of races at Firebird during the 70's. Better known as "The King", he is amongst an elite few that not only won in AA/Funny Car, but also AA/Fuel Dragster, too. Looking back, Ruth doubled up in both AA/FD and AA/FC one year at the Ignitor - NHRA World Championship Series meet, certainly living up to his namesake and then some. Ruth was one of the most colorful racers in Firebird history, too. Often outspoken, always fiercely competitive, "The King" always took his racing very seriously...truly one of the real characters of early Firebird racing.
