DARIN BAY UNLEASHES 293 MPH BLAST AT 33RD FOX HUNT

The 33rd edition of the Pennzoil Fox Hunt presented by A & I Distributing enjoyed positively outstanding weather as temperatures climbed into the low 80’s under partly cloudy skies, as a good-sized crowd attended the one event where all ladies are admitted free of charge.

With nearly 200 racers competing over the weekend, a number of outstanding performances were recorded in the eighth and ninth stop in the Boise Muffler/Auto Body Paint & Supply Series.

Noteworthy was the fifth consecutive victory by Lynde Fischer in Sportsman eliminator on Friday night. Her winning streak came to end on Saturday when an untimely redlight ended her five straight trips to the winner’s circle in round one. Chris Jaggers enjoyed a fine showing himself in Friday’s Super Pro class (and Saturday’s Box Gambler), winning two eliminators in one weekend. A tip of the hat also goes out to Tim Osmus who toppled twenty-four entries in Saturday’s Snow/Bike eliminator, his first victory in the category. Lastly, thanks to all the Naughty Girls for putting together a fine showing on both days of the popular Fox eliminator division. This year’s big prize winners (which included a pair of handcrafted quilts by Jackie Alley) were Stephanie Meimann and Julie Hart.

The Jets put on a spectacular show. Darin Bay made his debut appearance at Firebird with his jaw-dropping “Incinerator” Dragster. He blitzed the Firebird quarter-mile at 289 and 293 mph against the colorful “Warhawk” of Derek Snelson.

In Nostalgia Funny Car, Greg Howland was the star of the weekend, running 6.82-205.99 and 6.80-207.90. The second quickest Funny Car performance was recorded by Royce Taylor who put together an impressive pair of passes, carding a 7.36-193.25 and 7.12-200.57 with his `72 Mach 1. In the West Coast Top Sportsman class, Will Boxold cranked out a 7.98, 7.99, and 7.97 en route to his first Firebird victory.

Hope you enjoy just a small sampling of images taken throughout the two-day double header.
