IGNITOR
READY
TO ROCK FIREBIRD!
The oldest major event in the
Pacific Northwest, the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford
returns to Firebird on April 24-27, 2008. Nearly 450 racers are anticipated for
the opening stop in the Division 6 Lucas Oil Drag Race Series.
Headlining the event will be Jack the Sheriff Harris with his Nitro
Thunder AA/Fuel Dragster. Harris was the winner of the inaugural NHRA Hot Rod
Heritage Series race during the 50th March Meet in Bakersfield, Calif. He also
recorded the quickest elapsed time in the history of Top Fuel racing at a
jaw-dropping 5.56 seconds. Reigning Pepsi Nightfire champion Howard Haight from
Brownsburg, Indiana, driving the Bill Botelho and Mike Patterson Arizona-based
ride will challenge the Utah Posse. In AA/Fuel Altered, Ricky Ruiz with the
Nevada Rattler will square off with the Impatience `23 T of James
Generalao Jr. from Las Vegas. In an all Idaho Supercharged Shootout, Dale Harsin
will compete with his Outlaw `57 Chevy Funny Car against defending Ignitor
champion Matt Moreira with his blown Roadster.
Since 1969 Firebird has played host to an NHRA Division 6 points race.
Originally called the World Championship Series, todays Lucas Oil Drag Race
Series will see a multitude of racers challenging for a share of the record
$210,325 cash and contingency prize posting.
Racers will be competing in Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Top Dragster, Top
Sportsman, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Sportsman Bike, Super Pro and
Pro throughout the weekend.
