The NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford featured quite a wide variety weather throughout the weekend. After intermittent rain showers abbreviated testing on Thursday and washed-out most of Friday, partly cloudy and sunny skies paved the way for plenty of racing on the main two days over the weekend. Saturday offered much warmer temperatures (upper 50’s by mid-afternoon), and Sunday dawned gorgeous as temps climbed into the mid-60’s under sunny skies for the final day of eliminations.

The Stinker Stores Nitro Knockout attracted a good-sized pit-side audience on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage point’s series played host to the second stop for the AA/Funny Car class at the Ignitor. After qualifying on the pole at 5.82-250, Jason Rupert was hands down the star of the weekend as he rattled off runs of 5.89, 5.76-251.60 (for both ends of the track record and a 5.78-251.60 to stop Texan John Hale in the championship final.

In the Lucas Oil Drag Racer Series, nine different champions were crowned in addition to the winners of Super Pro, Pro and Heavy in the Boise Muffler Gold Cup Series. Congratulations to all those racers who reached the Pepsi Winner’s Circle.

We want to pass along thanks to everyone on the Firebird staff who worked in concert with the NHRA team from Division 6 to produce one outstanding weekend of racing. New Division 6 Director Frank Nelson was joined by Division 7 Director Mike Rice, along with NHRA Vice President-Racing Administration Josh Peterson to help oversee the first stop in the Northwest Division point’s series.

We hope you enjoy a small slice of the color and excitement (including a wide variety of photography below) taken throughout the event.
