School standout Courtney Alley nearly pulled off the Pro title on Friday
night. Against Troy Pecht, she ran 10.64 (10.66 dial) against a dead
perfect 10.19 (10.19) run by Pecht. It was a very impressive outing,
considering it was her first. |

The first to bust the Jack Harris (5.85)
track record on Saturday night was Jim Murphy (near side). His
sensational 5.838-248.07 was bumped down one spot in the next pair as
Brad Thompson thundered down the same lane at 5.832! |

Snow/Bike champion Tim Skougard from Utah
held off Rich Pedraza's late charge to take home the National Dragster
Challenge Wally trophy. |

With stout header flames, the Richard
Stannard-owned and Ed Schwarz-driven Fuel Altered carded a best of
6.55-212.96. |

Dan Lafferty, who had twice previously won
the Allstar Dash for Cash, pocketed yet another $1,000 in cash put up by
Bill New for the Bracketeer veterans. He ran 7.51 on a 7.51 to clip
Scott Lemen's 8.21 (8.19). Lemen went home with a free four-day entry to
the 2008 race. |

Long Distance recipient Bill Harper came
almost 2,000 miles to compete in Pro Modified, but missed making the cut
for the 8-car field. |

The "Nitro Thunder" team scored
the AA/Funny Car title presented by Carl's Jr. Jack Harris set a new
track e.t. mark at 6.24 before defeating Jeff Utterback in the final. |

How `bout that Lynde Fischer! She was the
first to wrap up the National Dragster Challenge championship in the
Sportsman class. |

Arizona's Greg Daebelliehn was
overshadowed by Greg Uffens (far side) 5.37 with a weekend best of
5.96-219.35. |

Vern Mills debuted his very sweet `55
Chevy Pro Modified at the Nightfire, but missed making the 8-car cut. |

The largest field of Arizona racers in
recent times made the trek to the Nightfire including Matt Hawk from
Tucson who raced this Pro eliminator `70 Maverick. |

Shannon Stuart and Troy Green locked horns
during Saturday night qualifying. Green belted out a 5.95 to a 6.63 for
the Bob Richardson owned Circuit Breaker dragster. |

It's just amazing Greg Hindman made the
Nightfire after crashing in Woodburn in mid-July. Thanks to a lot of
people who burnt the midnight oil, Greg picked up the Quickest Door Car
award at 7.34. |

Here's the run that Brad Thompson dropped
the e.t. bomb on all Top Fuel Challengers. 5.832!!!! Considering it was
nearly 6,000' of corrected makes the run even more outstanding. Rick
McGee thundered a bit back at 6.04. |

Perennial Top Fire favorite Randy Johnson
was defeated by eventual winner Lloyd Flatum in the second round of Full
Bodied by just .009! |
