MOUNTAIN VIEW SWEEPS EARLY LEAD AT HIGH SCHOOL DRAGS

Over 200 racers from twenty-one schools competed at the United Dairymen High School Nationals presented by the U.S. Army and Western States/ Cat at Firebird.

Thanks to Idaho’s News Channel 7, the race was dedicated as an Alcohol Free and Drug Awareness Day.

Taking the early lead, Mountain High unofficially charged into the early "AAA" point's standings with 273 points (leading nearest rival Meridian who finished with 80), while Kuna High ranks number one in the "AA" standings with 174 points (compared to second place Emmett High with 104 pts.).

The day's top High School winner was Chris Wingert from Mtn. View High. He drove to a 12.79 elapsed time at 99.22 mile per hour to defeat Kuna High's Carlos Rodriquez.

In Alumni racing, Glen Watts stopped Glen Phillips in the Alumni #1 class. The race also featured one of the biggest Import turnouts in recent memory. Winners of the opening race included: Quick Import: Zeljko Kuzeta, Boise, and Street Import: Jose Valle, Nyssa, Ore. Special thanks to all the Sport Compact racers for turning out in force at the opening stop in the Lyle Pearson Acura point’s series..
