DAN LAFFERTY SCORES $1,000 PAYDAY AT STINKER SEASON OPENER AT FIREBIRD
Wendell's Dan Lafferty scored the Super Pro title at the 5th Annual Stinker Season Opener at Firebird Raceway. Outlasting a field of nearly 230 racers, Lafferty punched out a 7.29 elapsed time at 175.37 miles per hour to win the day's top class.
Lafferty stopped Sam Northup, Boise, in a battle of rear-engined dragsters who finished at 8.97-145.89. The day's other Gold Cup champions included: Randy Williamson, Boise, in Pro; Scott Downard, Eagle, in Sportsman, and 15 year old Zak Pedraza, Boise, in Snow/Bike.
Racing resumes on Sunday as gates open at 9 am, followed by first round of racing at 2 pm. Adults are $12, kids 6-12: $3, and toddlers 5 & under: free.
