LISA THOMAS WINS PRO AT STINKER SEASON OPENER
Former 4-night Pepsi Nightfire point's champ
Lisa Thomas defeated all challengers at the 5th Annual Stinker Stores Season
Opener at Firebird Raceway. For the second straight day the weather was
absolutely perfect, as temperatures climbed into the mid-70's under cloud
free skies.
In the Pro eliminator final, Thomas nailed a 10.62 on a 10.62 dial at 122.16
miles per hour with her `66 Chevy II. She stopped Steve Pyburn who also
recorded a dead perfect pass, running 10.43 (10.43 dial) at 125.33 mph with
his `57 Ford. The race was decided at the starting line as Thomas edged
Pyburn with a .039 to .070 advantage. In Super Pro, "Dynamite Dan" Lafferty
was denied a second straight win in as many days, narrowly losing to Aaron
Marcum. Marcum drove his `07 TNT Dragster to the $1,000 winning cash prize
with a time of 7.85 (7.80 dial)-164.74. The margin of victory was just .002
of a second!
Quite impressive, two racers doubled up in main eliminators over the
weekend. Joseph Karnes, Eagle, and Michael Jaggers, Middleton, swept Outlaw
Street and Junior Thunder, respectively. In addition, Marcum was the winner
of Box Gambler (Sat), along with Super Pro on the final day.
The Boise Muffler/Auto Body Paint &
Supply Gold Cup two-day point's stop attracted better than 230 racers. In a
couple of days we look forward to showing off an assortment of photos from
the first Summit series race of the new season so be sure and check back.
