ROADSTER SHOW WILL FEATURE A NUMBER OF AMAZING CARS!
This year’s Boise Roadster Show presented by Les Schwab Tires is shaping up to
be one of the best yet. As Idaho’s Largest
Motorsport’s Event, the Roadster Show will take place on March 12, 13, 14 & 15,
2009. Show hours are 4 – 11 pm on Thursday, 3 – 11 pm on Friday, 10 am – 10 pm
on Saturday and 10 am – 6 pm on Sunday. The show will take place at Expo Idaho, home of the
Western Idaho Fair.
In the planning stages for quite some time, we are thrilled to be featuring one
of the all-time greatest show rods ever built in the northwest. Better known as
the
“Orange
Crate”,
the `32 Ford Sedan built by Bob and Terry Tindle in the early 60’s, will add a
real nostalgic flair to this year’s show. Owned today by Tacoma’s Ted Gord, the wild tilt-bodied sedan
features a 417-inched Olds for power, along with a Potvin front-mounted
supercharged. The car was fully featured on the cover and documented in a
multiple-page spread in Rodder’s Journal (#38) magazine. The car was a
two-time Grand National Roadster Show Competition Sweepstakes champion in the
early 60’s. In addition, Revell made a 1/25th model car of the “Orange Crate”,
which still to this day is one of their most popular kits. The car was
recognized at the 75th Anniversary of the `32 Ford at the Grand National Show
(in `07) as one of the 75 most significant deuce’s of all-time.

The “ShowLow” `62 Chevrolet
Belair will be one of the top cars to appear at this year’s Roadster Show. The
wild custom is owned by Dennis McClendon from Mesa, Arizona,
and features a 2” chopped top, an injected 409 c.i. powerplant, and an array of
custom fabricated and modified components. The car is painted Maserati Red. The
Belair was a finalist in the World’s Most Beautiful Custom competition in Sacramento, a Fine 9
finisher at the Tulsa Go for the Gold, and the Shine award winner at the SEMA
Show.

Making his first appearance at this year’s show will be a
professional drag racer that has been to western
Idaho
many times previously. Traditionally competing at Firebird Raceway every summer,
Jack “the Sheriff” Harris
from Kaysville, Utah, will be showcasing his 240 mile per hour AA/ Funny Car
called
“Nitro Thunder”.
Harris is a former World Champion and past Nightfire winner in both Top Fuel and
Funny Car. Having raced for over 40 years, Harris will be helping promote the
NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series, which will be making a key national point’s stop
at Firebird during the Pepsi Nightfire on August 13th-16th, 2009. (Image by M
