SCHEDULES MAIL THIS WEEK, ALL-NEW ARMDROP LIVE EVENT WILL HAPPEN MEMORIAL WEEKEND!

The 2009 Firebird Track Schedules have printed and will be arriving in your mail box in the coming week. By all accounts, the new event schedule may very well be one of the most exciting and dynamic in track history.

The roster of events is headlined by the grand daddy of `em—the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals. The Nightfire returns this August 13th-16th for the 38th year and will be a key stop in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series. From the day the Nightfire ended last August, we have been steadfastly putting all the ingredients together for what is shaping up to be one of the biggest racing weekends in Idaho history. From the Bracketeer eliminators to the AA/Funny Cars presented by Carl’s Jr. & AA/Fuel Dragsters welcomed by Valvoline, this race has certainly earned the right to be called Firebird’ “signature event” every summer.

Many familiar and highly popular races return to the Firebird racing docket ranging from the six-race Fairly Reliable Bob’s Club Challenge Series to the United Dairymen High School & Alumni Championships presented by the U.S. Army starting in May and wrapping up in September.

We are also very excited to kick off the Division 6 Lucas Oil Drag Race Series in the Pacific Northwest with the longest-running major drag racing weekend better known as the Ignitor. A thirty-nine year tradition at Firebird, the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold-Ford will be help jump start a busy month of May. And customary to this event—the spring-like conditions will no doubt offer plenty of opportunities for racers to join the NHRA National Record Blaster club, a real hit for all the Stock, Super Stock and Comp fraternity.

Looking a little further down the road, the schedule will close with a bang, too, as the 16th edition of the NAPA Halloween Classic presented by Peterson Toyota returns on October 7th-11th.

Here’s some really big news, too…we are thrilled to announce a brand new happening to hit the Firebird schedule this May. Set for May 22nd-23rd, we will play host to Rich Christensen’s Armdrop Live. This event has all the makings to be one of the biggest, yes—the biggest races of the year at Firebird. Block out your calendars today, because this one is flat gonna blow you away. If you’ve seen, watched or competed at Pinks or Pinks All Out on Speed, then you’ll want to brace yourself for heads-up madness featuring a $10,000 cash purse. Rich Christensen will be here in person to conduct his famous “armdrops” for all those who have the courage to qualify and take a shot at racing over Memorial weekend. Early pre-entries will be made available at the Roadster Show (3/12-15) at Expo Idaho, followed by a national release on our website beginning on Monday, March 16, 2009. We’ve already had inquiries from seven states on this event, so you’ll not want to hesitate on getting your entries into Firebird early for this monster (which will be limited to the first 400 entrants). To learn more about the event, just drop by their site at: www.armdroplive.com.

And if you haven’t planned to join us this March at the Boise Roadster Show presented by Les Schwab Tires, then you’d best mark your calendars for March 12th-15th, `cause this year’s show is really going to be a dandy.

Plain and simple, the line-up of feature and competitive entrants coming to Boise is positively one of the best ever.

Hours of the show are: 4 pm to 10 pm, Thursday, 3 pm to 10 pm, Friday, 11 am to 10 pm, Saturday, and 11 am to 7 pm, Sunday.

Be sure and stop by the Firebird booth at the show, too—we certainly look forward to visiting with everyone who plans to attend the official blast-off to the motorsport’s calendar this March. And should your race car need a chassis certification—please give our office (938-8986) a shout, so we can get your name on the list to be tagged (or re-tagged) on Saturday, March 14th, in the Fairground main parking lot. In addition, we’ll be offering ETI’s for any NHRA member (from 9 am till 3 pm), to get your annual tech inspection knocked out for the season.

And before we sign off for this long overdue “What’s New” update, we just wanted to let everyone know that we’ll be bringing more and more announcements in the weeks to follow.

With the new season just around the corner kicking off with the Oil Can Henry’s Spring Swap Meet presented by American Classifieds…hint, hint: start getting your swap treasures together to sell & Warm Up on April 11th, `cause it’ll be here before you know it!
