APRIL PACKED WITH FUN EVENTS!

Excitement is beginning to brew as the 2009 NHRA Championship Drag Racing Season has nearly arrived.

The month of April is loaded up with terrific events. First up will be the Pre-Season Open Test Day on Sunday, April 5th. Gates will swing open at 9 am, followed by unlimited testing from 10 am until 4 pm.

Saturday, April 11th, marks the date for the 15th edition of the Oil Can Henry’s Spring Warm-Up & Swap Meet. Presented by American Classifieds, the event has become the biggest automotive swap meet in the entire state of Idaho. Of course the day will be filled with test `n tune opportunities, but better yet the upper and a big section of the lower pit area will be packed with all kinds of parts, cars, collectibles and more. Now is the time to clean our your shop or garage and plan to secure a spot in the Swap starting at 2 pm on Friday, April 10th. Seller check-in also takes place at 8 am on Saturday, the 11th, with buyer gates opening at 9 am.

One week later, the Boise Muffler Gold Cup Point’s Championship kicks off with the Stinker Stores Season Opener. The two-day event will take place on April 18th and 19th, with every category on deck. Racing will take place in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Snow/Bike, Junior Thunder & Lightning, Street Bike, Nostalgia, Street Truck, and Outlaw Street. The event will feature two separate days of racing and Saturday night offers free camping for everyone who secures a two-day credential.

The last weekend of month will see the Fairly Reliable Bob’s Club Challenge Series get underway on Friday, April 24th, followed by the United Dairymen Spring High School & Alumni Nationals presented by the U.S. Army on Sunday, April 26th.

It’s time to start getting motivated for Firebird’s forty-second season of Drag Racing. All of us in the New Crew can’t wait to open the turnstiles for the first-time since closing the facility last October following Classic XV. The grass is green and the track is more than ready to start a whole new chapter in Idaho racing in the greater Treasure Valley. See you there!

ARMDROP LIVE PRE-ENTRIES NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

The Firebird Raceway booth at the Roadster Show was a beehive of activity, especially when you factor in the big volume of racers (including Kent Wilson-pictured above) who registered for the inaugural ArmDrop Live event coming up over Memorial weekend.

For those who were unable to attend the show, you now have an opportunity to pre-register for the event. You can print the entry form (.pdf file) and mail it to: Firebird ArmDrop Live, P.O. Box 1398, Eagle, ID 83616. Do remember, we are taking the first 350 who pre-enter the event, so don’t wait too long to get signed up.

It was great getting an opportunity to visit with all the racers and families who stopped by the booth to pick up schedules and a copy of the “hot off the press” 2009 Motorsports Annual.
